Frosty the Snowman
Frosty the Snowman was a jolly, happy soul with a corn cob pipe and a button nose and two eyes made out of coal. Frosty the Snowman is a fairy tale they say, he was made of snow but the children know how he came to life one day. There must have been some magic in that old silk hat they found for when they placed it on his head he began to dance around! Oh, Frosty the Snowman was alive as he could be and the children say he could laugh and play Just the same as you and me! |

Bird Talk
by Aileen Fisher "Think...," said the robin, "Think...", said the jay, sitting in the garden, talking one day. "Think about people- the way they grow; they don't have feathers at all, you know." "They don't eat beetles, they don't grow wings, they don't like sitting on wires and things." "Think...," said the robin, "Think...", said the jay,. "Aren't people funny to be that way?" |

Punctuation Marks
Author Unknown The period is a busy man. A small round traffic cop. He blocks the helter-skelter words And brings them to a stop. The question mark's a tiny girl, She's small but very wise; She asks too many questions For a person of her size. Of all the punctuation folk, I like the comma best. For when I'm getting out of breath He lets me take a rest. Quotation marks are curious. When friendly talk begins You'll always find these little marks Are busy listening in. The exclamation mark's an elf, Who is easily excited. When children laugh or cry or scream It's then he's most delighted. |

Week of 8/31
Our School Family by Anonymous Our family comes from many towns. Our hair is straight. Our hair is brown. Our hair is curled. Our eyes are blue. Our skins are different colors, too. We’re girls and boys. We’re big and small. We’re young and old. We’re short and tall. We’re everything that we can be. And still we are a family. We laugh and cry. We work and play. We help each other every day. The world’s a lovely place to be, Because we are a family! |
